Association of Mathematics Supervisors of Long Island (AMSLI) is the new name for The Nassau County Association of Mathematics Supervisors (NCAMS).

This change that took effect in the 2023-2024 school year and aims to be more inclusive in representing math educators from both Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Established in 1988, NCAMS, now AMSLI, is dedicated to enhancing mathematics instruction and fostering a collaborative community of educators on Long Island. Our organization is committed to improving the quality of math education and supporting the professional growth of our members. Here’s a glimpse into our mission and activities:

Our Purposes

  1. Leadership in Mathematics Instruction:  We strive to lead the advancement of mathematics instruction across Long Island. Through innovative practices and progressive methodologies, we aim to elevate the standards of math education and ensure that our students receive the highest quality instruction.

  2. Communication and Collaboration:  We facilitate regular communication among mathematics supervisory personnel, creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and sharing of current information. Our network encourages dialogue and collaboration, allowing members to stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in mathematics education.

  3. Meetings and Events:  We organize a variety of meetings and events where members can discuss common challenges, explore shared interests, and develop solutions together. These gatherings are designed to foster a sense of community and collective problem-solving among math educators.

  4. Affiliations and Representation:  We maintain active affiliations with leading organizations such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM), and the New York State Association of Mathematics Supervisors (NYSAMS). LIMEN ensures that our members are represented in relevant decision-making bodies, advocating for the interests of mathematics education on Long Island.
